Who Exactly is QAnon?

There seems to be a lot of focus being drawn towards the posts that are published by a user by the name of QAnon, but who exactly is this person or organization, and what is their real purpose? The research that I have begun into this phenomenon seems to be very convoluted and confusing at best. First and foremost, this “screen name” has placed a barrier around the true identity of the organization or person who actually posts under this name. It certainly is easy to say anything you want when no one knows who truly said it. I understand that mentality, because I also have at least one site where I publish under a screen name, however, all the other sites I post on have my name for all to see. It appears that a type of online game platform began to take posts in only an anonymous fashion and later termed the posts and the people posting as Anons; I can see how Anon could be a shortened version of Anonymous. I understand that the Q part of the screen name was only part of a whole host of other screen names that ended in Anon. At some point in 2017, predictions were made under the name of QAnon and it gathered a huge following, which eventually branched out under other social media platforms where now they have become a bit of a household name. Many of the followers dedicate themselves to decoding the messages that QAnon posts and have also branched into a great following based on their predictions of the QAnon posts. Of course…
